1. Introduction

BTCPost ("we," "us," or "our") respects the privacy of our users ("user" or "you"). BTCPost is an independent premium shipping plugin for WooCommerce that connects your store to the Bitcoin Postage service to display live carrier rates, generate labels, and automate tracking. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and otherwise handle your information when you use our website, the BTCPost plugin, and related services.

BTCPost is an independent product and is not officially affiliated with or partnered with Bitcoin Postage. Using the plugin requires a separate, free Bitcoin Postage account, which is operated by a third party under its own terms and privacy practices (see Section 7).

2. Information We Collect

We may collect information about you in a variety of ways. The information we may collect includes:

  • Account Information: Name, email address, password, and account preferences
  • License & Plugin Data: Your store domain or site URL, license key, plugin version, and activation status, used to provision and validate your subscription
  • Shipping Information: Sender and recipient addresses, phone numbers, and package details (weight, dimensions, contents declarations) processed within your WooCommerce store and transmitted to Bitcoin Postage and the selected carrier to generate rates and labels
  • Billing Information: Plugin subscription and license payments are processed by our third-party payment provider, Freemius, using standard payment methods such as credit or debit cards. Payment card details are collected and stored by Freemius, not by us; we receive only limited transaction and subscription data (for example, plan, billing status, and a partial card reference)
  • Website Usage: IP address, browser type, referring URL, pages visited, and time spent on pages
  • Cookies: Data collected through cookies and similar tracking technologies
  • Support Communications: Any messages you send to our support team

We do not collect, process, or store cryptocurrency wallet credentials or private keys. Postage is funded in Bitcoin through your separate Bitcoin Postage account, not through our website (see Sections 6 and 7).

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect in the following ways:

  • To provision, validate, and renew your plugin license and subscription
  • To transmit shipping and package data to Bitcoin Postage and the carriers you enable so live rates and labels can be generated
  • To provide customer support, migration assistance, and respond to inquiries
  • To improve our plugin, services, and website functionality
  • To comply with legal obligations and prevent fraud or misuse
  • To send service and, with your consent, promotional communications
  • To analyze usage patterns and optimize user experience

4. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Payment card data is handled entirely by Freemius under their security standards. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services and fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us, subject to legal retention requirements. Data held by Bitcoin Postage, Freemius, or the carriers is retained according to their own policies.

6. Third-Party Services & Sharing

BTCPost relies on third-party services to operate. We may share information with:

  • Bitcoin Postage: An independent third-party service that powers carrier access, rate quoting, and label purchasing. Shipping and package data is transmitted to Bitcoin Postage to fulfill these functions. We are not affiliated with Bitcoin Postage, and its handling of your data is governed by its own privacy policy
  • Freemius: Our payment and license provider, which processes plugin subscription payments (including credit/debit card details) and manages license keys
  • Shipping Carriers: USPS, UPS, DHL, and Canada Post receive the information necessary to quote rates and produce labels
  • Service Providers: Third parties who assist us in operating our website and services
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our legal rights

We do not sell your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

7. Bitcoin Postage & Cryptocurrency Privacy

Use of the BTCPost plugin requires a separate, free Bitcoin Postage account. Bitcoin Postage is operated by an independent third party; we are not officially affiliated with or partnered with them, and their collection and use of your data is governed by their own terms and privacy policy.

Postage and shipping label costs are paid in Bitcoin through your Bitcoin Postage account, not through the BTCPost website. Cryptocurrency transactions are recorded on a public blockchain and may be publicly visible. We do not process, hold, or have access to your cryptocurrency, wallet credentials, or private keys.

8. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to enhance your user experience. You can control cookie settings through your browser. Please note that disabling cookies may affect your ability to use certain features of our website.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

  • Right to access your personal information
  • Right to correct inaccurate information
  • Right to request deletion of your information
  • Right to opt-out of promotional communications
  • Right to data portability

To exercise these rights, please contact us at support@btcpost.io. Requests relating to data held by Bitcoin Postage, Freemius, or the carriers may need to be directed to those providers.

10. Children's Privacy

BTCPost is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it.

11. Policy Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by posting a notice on our website. Your continued use of our services after such modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
